Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member of Main Street Eureka Springs?

Main Street Eureka Springs is a 501c3, which means it isn’t a membership organization like the Chamber. Instead, everyone who owns property, owns a business or works in the district is automatically a member of Main Street.

Was your original name Eureka Springs Downtown Network?

Yes! When we first started we were a part time program without staff and the Main Street Arkansas program awarded us the Downtown Network position. We are also still recognized as our official business name as Eureka Springs Downtown Network, Inc. which was set up in 2007. In 2011, we took the leap to become a fully accredited Main Street program and rebranded as Main Street Eureka Springs.

Why aren’t you an all volunteer organization?

Part of the requirements of being a fully accredited Main Street America program is having a paid director. They, and we, believe that a paid director can move initiatives farther and have longer term projects. Our board and members of the community are all volunteers.

I’m thinking of purchasing a property or opening a business downtown. Can you provide resources to help?

Yes! We have a list of properties available (updated bi-annually) and can connect you to resources for historic tax credits to update the building you might be considering. If you are opening a business we can provide a number of free entrepreneur workshops and consulting.

Do you host meetings or events?

You can find our events here.

What is the difference between the various local programs?

The City Advertising and Promotion Commission is built to be the cities primary advertising and marketing team. They are responsible for bringing people to Eureka Springs and are funded by the hospitality tax collected by lodging and dining. They cover the whole area.

The Chamber of Commerce is responsible for visitor services. When someone asks for more information about Eureka Springs they send that out. They are a membership organization funded by dues and advertising. They serve the whole area.

The Main Street Eureka Springs organization is dedicated to keeping the downtown district vibrant for the long haul. They provide business resources, communication & leadership for the core district. They are only responsible for their designated downtown district.

The Heart of Eureka is a vibrant merchants association working together to help one another and the visitor experience in downtown Eureka Springs at it’s most awesome. They serve the downtown primary retail district.

I have an idea, event or program I’d like to see happen downtown. How can you help?

We love people taking initiative to make things happen in Downtown Eureka Springs. We consider downtown to be a giant playground where anything is possible. If you have something that you would like us to partner with you can contact us and we can talk about the options. Our work plan is developed in the December for the following year.

Do you receive funding from the City of Eureka Springs?

No. We have never received direct funding from the City of Eureka Springs, although this is something that we would like to explore. 93% of the Main Street Arkansas programs have funding provided by their cities.
